what a treat:

There is nothing like a whimsical mouth-watering bakery. We like to find a new one every weekend. We are bakery lovers! This one immediately took me back in time when i was a little girl. We used to visit a place just like it every Sunday. I can still smell the subtle nutty sweetness of grated coconut, old-fashioned candy, homemade cookies and purity ice cream creations. It was the highpoint of the week when my sister and i shared a layered banana split with double whipped cream (the REAL kind!). And i swear it was even better than listening to crickets buzzing.

Thank you for reading, caring, commenting and...following along. Have a wonderful weekend everyone. I hope you treat yourself! G.

i invite you to share your fondest childhood memories or favorite weekend habits. Can't wait to read it. [Photo Credit: inspacelocations]

There's just something so "homey" about bakeries and the smells...not to mention the eye candy to see in the trays!! There's one in Niagara-on-the-Lake here in Ontario that I have to go to whenever I'm in that little town.

My weekends as a kid were always the fun of Friday night when we'd get to have take-out hamburgers and fries and then chocolate cream filled donuts from two local places. Now it's common-place with all the fast food joints, but this was long before that was the "done" thing! Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

One of my fondest memories is biking to grandma's on sat to visit, only to find out she had made fresh cinnamon buns that morning. The smell was amazing!!

Hi! One of my favourite memories is of a cakeshop in southern England, Torquay to be exact. Every year when my family would holiday there we would walk along the main street , heading to the beach with our bucket and spade, and we would pass by the cake shop that always had tons of pesky wasps buzzing around it. We would all buy a cream horn. Pastry shaped in a horn shape filled with cream. Hmmm

When I was a kid we would take our boat to the San Juan islands in Washington to Friday Harbor. There was an ice cream store call The Sweet Tooth Saloon. It was a tradition for us to stop there each trip for a banana split.

Now that I am grown we take my son to Cannon Beach Oregon where he has formed his own memories and traditions. We always get a homemade ice cream cone, pizza from Pizza a Fetta and pick out our favorite flavors of saltwater taffy to take home.
